Maha Shivaratri & Nilkantha Mahadev History - Origin of Shivaratri

Every years we Indians are celebrated Maha Shivaratri on the Phalgun month of the Hindu Calendar since during many years ago, Almost this day are on 13th or 14h Day night of Phalgun month, According to Myths Means of Maha Shivaratri is the Great Night of Shiva. there are many spelling used for this "Maha shivaratri" like Sivaratri, Shivaratri, Sivarathri, and Shivaratri.

According to Myths of India, Many times age churning of Ocean had been organized by gods and demons which popular with the name of "Samudra Manthan", so during the time of Samundra Manthan means churning of Ocean, gods and demons had got pot of Poison from Ocean, then all of gods and demons were worried about it and afraid for to destroy.

But Then After, All Group of Gods and Demons were run at Shiva for get helps from Shiva (Devo ke dev Mahadev). and they drank this pot of poison and they hold this poison in his throat instead of swallowing it then world, Gods and demons were fully safe by after this process, poison are in the throat of Mahadev and its throat seen blue in Hindi 'Nil', 'Neel' so its called and came to be known as "Nilkantha Mahadev"

So according to this Story and myths of India, this event called as Maha-Shivaratri celebrated by people since long and many of age.
